The Bricolage consulting concept is rooted in self-empowerment by assisting individuals in discovering their highest potential and developing their authentic voice. The series design, which schedules one seminar per week, allows the participants ample time to practice and implement what they have learned during the week.
Public Speaking is extremely beneficial and goes far beyond just regurgitating information. Ultimately, it is about having something to say and doing so with conviction, clarity and purpose. The "techniques" or "how-to-guides" for effective public speaking are of secondary importance to really having something to express to your audience.
The participants will familiarize themselves with some basic principles of effective and ethical public speaking and become experienced in enacting those principles. This will instill in them a critical appreciation for the importance of the topics they choose to discuss and the connection of those topics to their lives, as well as a deeper understanding of their obligation as participants in public communication transactions.

Often called, "speaking off the cuff," participants will be asked to speak off-the-cuff and make on-the-spot adjustments to their audience.
|
Speech of Introduction
Participants will learn how to express the unique qualities about themselves or another individual by considering experiences relating to a hobby or meaningful activity, career goal or life goal.
|

Informative Speech
Participants will learn to inform their audience in a "balanced and responsible" fashion of a topic of broader public significance. The goal is to express the potential significance of the topic to the audience's lives.
|
Persuasive Speech of Contention
Participants will learn to present a constructive and "well-reasoned" argument on a currently disputed issue of public moral significance. They will choose a topic, study the major arguments on "both sides" of the issue, and argue for "one side" over the other with reasoning and evidence.
|
|
Persuasive Speech Move to Action
Participants will learn to express a topic that they feel constitutes a problem warranting collective action for its resolution. Their speech will establish the existence of that problem in the minds of their audience, and prescribe a clear set of actions for the audience to take to resolve the matter.
